The station's report notes that no further details have been made public about how the two detained men are connected to the shooting or to each other.

Not the First Shooting on This Block
This is not the first time Crockett Street has seen gun violence. In July 2023, a man was injured in a shooting in the same 800 block, according to localmemphis.com. In that earlier case, officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. and found a man with apparent gunshot wounds at Firehouse #15 on Breedlove Street before he was transported to Regional One in critical condition. Memphis police said at the time that the investigation was ongoing, the same status given to Friday's case.
As of now, Memphis police have not provided updates beyond confirming the detentions and the ongoing status of the investigation into Friday's shooting. Hoodline will update this story as more information becomes available.
