A man in his 60s was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot inside a Winter Garden neighborhood Tuesday morning, with Orange County deputies saying the shooter never left the scene. Deputies found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed him to a local hospital.
Orange County deputies responded to the 70 block of Massey Street around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to WFTV. Deputies located the man suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene, and the Orange County Sheriff's Office says he was hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities reported that the shooter remained at the scene after the shooting, and officials said there was no threat to the community as a result of the incident. The sheriff's office said no additional information was available at the time, leaving key questions about what led to the shooting still unanswered.
A Second Winter Garden Shooting in Recent Memory
Tuesday's shooting wasn't the only recent gunfire reported in Winter Garden. The Orange County Sheriff's Office also reported a shooting between two men in the parking lot of the Flamingo Crossings West apartments, which occurred around 10:10 p.m. at the 11700 block of Rock Pigeon Loop, according to WFTV.
In that incident, the two men involved, both in their 20s, were shot and transported to a hospital, though injury details were not released. The two cases remain separate, and no connection between them has been reported.
For now, the condition of the man shot on Massey Street is stable, and investigators have not released further details about what preceded the shooting or the relationship, if any, between the man and the shooter who stayed at the scene.
