
A man was shot multiple times and killed at Cherokee Park in Memphis Tuesday night, and as of the latest reports, police have no one in custody and no suspect information to share. Officers rushed to the park on Filmore Avenue just after 7 p.m. following a call about a shooting, only to find a male victim already suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Memphis Police Department confirmed it is investigating the homicide, according to actionnews5.com, which reported that officers were called to the park at 7:03 p.m. in response to the shooting. The station reported that officers arrived to find the victim with multiple gunshot wounds and that he died at the scene.
The shooting occurred in the 2900 block of Filmore Avenue, and police responded around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Police Still Searching for Answers
Police have not released suspect information. WREG.com reported that police are actively looking for the person responsible for the deadly shooting in the Cherokee neighborhood and have asked the public for any information that could help investigators. MPD said no one has been detained, per that outlet's report.

In May, police investigated a killing in the 3000 block of Sharpe Avenue, and in June, 18-year-old Jeremy Williams was arrested in the 400 block of Tillman Street in connection with that case, according to wreg.com. Williams was charged with first-degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, employing a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony, and theft of property of $1,000 or less in that case.
For now, the Cherokee Park shooting remains unsolved, with police continuing to piece together what happened on Filmore Avenue Tuesday evening. No further updates on the victim's identity or a motive have been released.
