A man was rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wounds after a shooting on the east side of Colorado Springs Sunday night, and as of Monday morning, police had no suspect information to share. Officers responded to a shooting call around 9 p.m. in the 200 block of Murray Boulevard, where they found the victim suffering from obvious gunshot wounds.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Colorado Springs Police are now seeking suspects in connection with the shooting, which left the man hospitalized for treatment. Separately, KRDO reported that officers were called to the scene just before 9 p.m. Sunday, pinpointing the location as North Murray Boulevard just north of East Pikes Peak Avenue — a stretch of the city's busy east-side corridor.
No arrests had been announced as of Monday morning, and CSPD has not released a suspect description. The agency's investigation remains active, and anyone with information is urged to come forward as detectives work to identify who opened fire.
A Corridor With A Troubled Recent History
Sunday's shooting adds to a string of public safety incidents along the Murray Boulevard corridor in recent years. Just eight days earlier, on October 3, CSPD officers responded to a fatal three-vehicle crash at the nearby intersection of Constitution Avenue and North Murray Boulevard that left one person dead and another hospitalized, per the Gazette's earlier reporting.
The roadway has also seen deadly gun violence before. In October 2024, a 29-year-old man was fatally shot in the parking lot of Atlas Middle School on South Murray Boulevard during an argument while a youth football game was underway on an adjacent field, according to CBS News. And in May 2024, a shooting at the Stone Canyon Apartments near Murray Boulevard and East Platte Avenue left two people dead and a third injured, the Denver Gazette reported at the time. The area also carries deeper law enforcement history: in February 2018, El Paso County Sheriff's Detective Micah Flick was shot and killed near Galley Road and North Murray Boulevard while investigating an auto theft, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.
Violent Crime Trending Down Citywide, But Challenges Remain
The shooting comes even as Colorado Springs has posted broader gains against violent crime. CSPD year-end statistics released in April showed homicides fell 28% in 2025, alongside a 13% drop in robberies and a 14% decline in overall property crime, according to the City of Colorado Springs. Citywide threat monitoring data compiled by Base Operations recorded 3,119 violent crime incidents across the city in 2025, representing roughly 23.7% of all recorded criminal offenses that year.
Still, non-fatal shootings with unidentified suspects remain a persistent challenge for investigators. CSPD has leaned on technology to help, including an expanded Drone as First Responder program that added seven aerial units citywide in February, letting drones operating under the Real-Time Crime Center reach active emergency scenes in as little as 27 seconds, as Hoodline has previously reported.
Anyone with information about Sunday's shooting can submit anonymous tips to Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867); tips leading to an arrest can qualify for a cash reward. If a suspect is eventually identified and charged, Colorado law classifies intentionally causing serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon as First-Degree Assault, a Class 3 felony and crime of violence carrying 10 to 32 years in state prison and fines of up to $750,000, according to Flatiron Legal Advisors.
