Shark Reef’s aquarium and conservation work
Shark Reef Aquarium opened in 2000 and marked its 25th anniversary in 2025. It has welcomed more than 21 million visitors and includes 14 major exhibits, with more than 3,400 animals representing 140 species, according to an MGM Resorts press release. The aquarium is Nevada’s only facility accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the release says.
The aquarium also breeds zebra sharks for a conservation effort in Indonesia. Shark Reef joined the StAR Project in 2023 and has sent more than 30 zebra shark eggs, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The project, launched in 2020, raises sharks from eggs in Indonesian nurseries before tagging and releasing them into protected habitats, according to ReShark.
Yoga class dates and details
Mandalay Bay’s October Yoga With Sharks session has sold out, and sessions for November 14 and December 12 are on sale, the Review-Journal reported. The classes are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in Shark Reef Aquarium’s Seascape Room, beside the Shipwreck exhibit.
The 60-minute class costs $49, including aquarium admission afterward. Advance registration is required, and participants must be at least 13; the class takes place before the aquarium opens to the public, according to the Review-Journal event listing.
