A Focus on Emergency Services
Operation Safe Halloween & Emergency Services Day brings Halloween festivities together with an emergency-services theme.
The sheriff's office has hosted the event annually, and its Facebook page has promoted the gathering.
A Tradition of Costumes, Candy and K-9 Demos
Operation Safe Halloween has become something of a fixture on Maryville's fall calendar. Past editions have featured uniformed personnel handing out candy while vehicles and equipment were set out for kids to inspect up close, according to thedailytimes.com. Deputies have also run live demonstrations with their K-9 units in previous years, giving families a reason to linger beyond the candy tables.
Earlier Emergency Services Day events have brought out a wider cast of participants, with coverage describing the Blount County Sheriff's Office, Maryville and Alcoa police and fire departments and the Blount County Fire Department all taking part, alongside K-9 scenarios, motorcycle units, and even Lifestar and Knox County helicopters on site. It is not confirmed whether those specific features will return for 2026.
The gathering has also served as a modest fundraiser in past years, with the Blount County K-9 Association selling T-shirts to support retired K-9s, and earlier editions of the broader Emergency Services Day sponsored by that same association. Past coverage of the event has also described it as free and open to the public.
