Matchbox Twenty is kicking off a 52-date North American tour marking its 30th anniversary right here in Birmingham, with the opening show set for May 15, 2027, at Coca-Cola Amphitheater. The All-American Rejects will join the band for that first night, and tickets go on sale to the public later this month.
According to Live Nation Entertainment, the 52-date tour kicks off on May 15 at Coca-Cola Amphitheater in Birmingham before crisscrossing the U.S. and Canada. The band — Rob Thomas, Kyle Cook, Paul Doucette and Brian Yale — has sold more than 40 million records worldwide over its three-decade run, per the same release. Birmingham's own WVTM 13 confirms the Birmingham show will open the anniversary run and frames the tour as a celebration of the band's three decades of music.
Joining Matchbox Twenty in Birmingham will be The All-American Rejects, while The Wallflowers, David Gray, O.A.R., Matt Nathanson and The Lucky are scheduled for select dates elsewhere on the tour, according to WBRC. The run is part of a year-long celebration tied to the band's 1996 album, “Yourself or Someone Like You,” per Live Nation. Live Nation describes the album as diamond-certified and 12-times platinum.
Presales Start Next Week, General Sale Follows
The band's artist presale starts Tuesday, October 20, at 5 p.m. local time, Live Nation reports, with fans able to sign up for presale access through the band's tour page. A separate Reserved by Spotify presale begins the same day, October 20, at 10 a.m. local time, open to eligible Spotify Premium top fans purchasing tickets at Ticketmaster venues.
Additional presales will run throughout the week before general ticket sales open to the public Friday, October 23, at 10 a.m. local time, per Live Nation's announcement. WBRC reports that tickets go on sale that Friday at MatchboxTwenty.com, with general ticket sales available through the band's website.
Stagecoach Stop and a Summer-Long Run
Before the tour proper begins, Matchbox Twenty will perform at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California, on Sunday, April 25, 2027, Live Nation notes. From there the band heads to Birmingham to officially launch the anniversary run, then on to stops including Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 16, according to Rock Cellar Magazine.
The tour continues through the summer with dates including The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach, Alabama, on August 5, per the same Rock Cellar listing, and a stop at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on August 11, 2027, according to an Audacy event listing. WBRC reports the tour is expected to wrap in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on August 12, 2027.
A Birmingham Kickoff for a 40-Million-Selling Band
The 30th anniversary festivities already got underway Monday, October 12, with a sold-out show at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, followed by an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, October 14, Billboard reports. For Birmingham fans, though, the bigger moment comes next May, when Coca-Cola Amphitheater hosts the tour's official launch alongside The All-American Rejects — a fitting start for a band marking three decades since the album that made it a household name.
