Memphis is getting bright skies and summerlike heat through Friday, followed by a sharp turn toward rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds this weekend. Wednesday morning starts clear near 63 degrees, with afternoon temperatures climbing to about 85 under mostly calm winds.
Three Dry, Hot Days Ahead
Thursday should be sunny and hotter, reaching 88 degrees, while Friday may top out near 89. Overnight lows will stay in the low to mid-60s, and rain chances remain close to zero through Friday afternoon.
The dry stretch has a downside. According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, afternoon humidity could fall into the 25% to 35% range through Friday, with increasing winds potentially pushing wildfire danger to its weekly peak.
Weekend Brings Rain And Stronger Winds
Rain chances jump Saturday, with showers possible in the morning before showers and thunderstorms become likely later in the day. Saturday should be breezy, with a high near 78 degrees.
Showers are likely Saturday night, then a chance of showers continues Sunday. The tropical system now known as Isaias could bring gusty winds and rain across the Mid-South from early Saturday through Sunday evening, with 1 to 3 inches possible east of the Mississippi River and locally higher totals near the Tennessee River.
Outdoor Plans May Need A Backup
For Memphis, Wednesday through Friday favor outdoor plans, but Saturday and Sunday could bring slippery roads, wind-blown debris and disruptions for outdoor events. The forecast remains subject to change as the storm's track and strength become clearer, so residents should check updated alerts before heading out.
