Metro Detroit is getting a short breather Wednesday after a damp overnight stretch, with temperatures around 61 degrees early and a chance of light rain before 9 a.m. The afternoon should stay dry, with lower ceilings possibly scattering late in the day.
Wednesday Dries Out Before The Next Round
North winds will stay light to moderate, and wet roads could make the morning commute slick in spots. Wednesday night may bring increased Lake Huron stratus, according to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac.
Thursday starts quietly, but rain is forecast to develop after 2 p.m., followed by widespread rain Thursday evening and overnight, with rainfall totals of 0.25 to 0.5 inches possible.
Friday Brings Wind And A Sharp Cooldown
Friday may bring scattered showers, with a high near 61 degrees. A strong cold front could bring wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph, making Friday the roughest day for driving, outdoor work and loose decorations.
Showers should taper Friday night as temperatures drop to around 37 degrees. A first freeze is possible in parts of southeast Michigan, especially north of M-59, while Detroit proper is more likely to remain just above freezing.
Sunny Weekend Offers A Reset
The forecast improves quickly Saturday, which should be sunny with a high near 55 degrees. Sunday looks brighter and milder near 59, followed by near- to above-normal temperatures early next week.
The colder late-week setup is a sharper turn than the warmer pattern outlined in Hoodline's earlier Detroit forecast. For now, the local game plan is simple: enjoy Wednesday's brief improvement, plan around Thursday night's rain and keep the heavier jacket close for Friday.
