Manhattan prosecutors have filed a new 41-count indictment against attorney Ryan Hemphill, accusing him of repeatedly and violently raping a seventh woman over the course of seven hours inside his midtown apartment. The new charges, which include nine counts of predatory sexual assault, come months after Hemphill was already facing a sprawling 116-count indictment tied to six other alleged victims.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. announced the indictment, which also includes numerous counts of rape in the first and third degrees, aggravated sexual assault in the first degree and assault in the second degree, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Bragg described the allegations bluntly, saying “the conduct alleged in this indictment is absolutely horrific,” per the same office’s announcement.

According to the DA’s office, the survivor at the center of this case came forward only after learning of the earlier allegations against Hemphill, who is 44 years old according to the agency’s statement, though NBC News reported his age as 43 in an April report. Court documents and statements made in court indicate the woman met Hemphill through SugarDaddy.com before going to his apartment, prosecutors said.

Allegations of Torture Over Seven Hours

Prosecutors allege the spring 2024 assault unfolded over seven brutal hours, during which Hemphill raped the survivor orally, vaginally and anally numerous times. The indictment further alleges he threatened her with a knife, restrained her on his bed and burned her with a hot object, the DA’s office said.

The indictment also alleges that Hemphill repeatedly held the survivor’s head underwater, pulling her up just before she lost consciousness each time, and forced her to record a video in which she said she wanted to be raped. The District Attorney’s Office emphasized that the charges remain allegations and that Hemphill is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

A Pattern Prosecutors Say Spans Six Other Women

This is not the first time Hemphill has faced accusations of this nature. The new charges follow a previously announced 116-count indictment alleging the predatory sexual assault of six other women between October 2024 and March 2025 inside the same midtown apartment, per the DA’s office. That earlier indictment included 24 counts of predatory sexual assault along with additional rape, controlled-substance, assault, bribery, ammunition and drug-possession charges.

Prosecutors said that earlier alleged abuse began on October 3, 2024, and involved multiple-hour ordeals of physical and sexual violence against the six women. Hemphill was arrested on March 1, 2025, in connection with that case, according to the same office.

Reporting at the time painted a disturbing picture of the alleged pattern. The New York Times reported that Hemphill was arraigned in April 2025 on the 116-count indictment accusing him of sexually assaulting six women over five months, alleging he lured women he met online to his apartment near the Empire State Building, where prosecutors say he raped, drugged and tortured them for hours. Hemphill pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail, the Times reported.

CBS News reported that the earlier case included allegations Hemphill used methods such as punching, drugging, waterboarding and a cattle prod against the six women, and that investigators recovered surveillance images showing dozens, possibly hundreds, of other women from his apartment. The outlet also reported Hemphill was accused of agreeing to pay one woman $2,000 in exchange for her dropping a complaint she had filed with police.

Investigation Remains Open

After the earlier indictment, NY1 reported that the Manhattan DA’s office was encouraging any other potential victims to contact its Special Victims Division. The new indictment against Hemphill suggests that outreach has continued to surface additional allegations, as the seventh survivor reportedly came forward only after learning of the earlier cases.

Alvin Bragg thanked the NYPD for its work on the investigation, according to the DA’s office. The charges contained in both indictments remain allegations, and Hemphill is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty under the law.
