A minor was found shot in the 2700 block of Minnesota Avenue SE on Tuesday.
DC Fire and EMS crews performed lifesaving measures at the scene before the juvenile was taken to a hospital for treatment, officials told DC News Now. In its October 6 report, DC News Now said police had no suspect information.
Police Have No Suspect Information
Hoodline reported that residents had raised concerns about drug activity and neighborhood safety in its coverage of a nearby R Street shooting.
Youth Crime Trends in DC
Youth crime trends in Washington, D.C., were the subject of an August event hosted by the Council on Criminal Justice.
Research on the effectiveness of large-scale enforcement has also raised questions about what actually curbs gun violence. A May 2026 policy study by the Niskanen Center found that the August 2025 deployment of National Guard troops in D.C. reduced property crime by 24% over six months but had no measurable impact on violent crime rates, according to the Niskanen Center. That finding feeds into an ongoing debate over whether targeted, localized policing does more to reduce youth gun violence than broad citywide deployments.
