Campbell police announced that a missing woman named Pamela Ledesma has been found safe, closing out a search that began after she was reported missing on October 25. The department said she was located outside Campbell Police Department's jurisdiction and credited another agency with helping bring the search to a safe end.
A Community-Wide Search Launched
The City of Campbell Police Department posted a missing-person alert for Ledesma on Facebook, asking anyone who spotted her to call (408) 866-2101. The post described her as 73 years old, though a separate report from kron4.com described her as 70 — the two accounts differ on her exact age. The department's post also said she may not know her own address or phone number.
Accounts of where Ledesma was last seen also diverge. Campbell police's post said she was last seen leaving Luna Mexican Restaurant in the Pruneyard at about 10:57 a.m. on October 25, while the station's report placed her last sighting near North 2nd Street and East Latimer Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. that day. The same report noted that police said she had been leaving her house to go to the Campbell Community Center.
Conflicting Descriptions Circulated During the Search
Descriptions of what Ledesma was wearing also varied between sources. Campbell police's post said she may have been wearing a black hat, a dark-colored jacket and jeans, while the station's report described her as last seen on foot in black pants and blue running shoes. Anyone who saw her was asked to call Campbell police or 911, per the same report.
During the search, the California Highway Patrol issued a Silver Alert for Ledesma. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Silver Alert is activated when an elderly, developmentally or cognitively impaired person goes missing and is determined to be at risk, giving the public immediate information to help with recovery.
Found Safe Outside City Limits
Campbell police's update, posted the following day, confirmed Ledesma had been found. The department said she was safely located outside its own jurisdiction and thanked the Santa Clara Police Department for helping ensure her safety. No further details were released about the exact time or circumstances of where she was found, or her condition afterward.
