Who Responded, and Who Investigates
The East Aldine Management District traces Aldine Fire & Rescue's growth from a single volunteer unit formed in 1968 into a four-station career agency.
Crews with Aldine Fire & Rescue handled the emergency response and searched for the missing person. The fire's origin and cause have not been announced.
Why Trailer Park Fires Spread So Fast
Fires in mobile and manufactured home communities spread to adjacent units in roughly 15 percent of incidents, largely due to close structural spacing, according to loss-control research from the Loss Control Academy. That tight spacing is a known risk factor in parks like the one along West Greens Road, where three separate homes burned in Tuesday's blaze. Three mobile homes burned as the fire spread between homes.
Federal HUD Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards date to 1976. The ages of the three homes involved in Tuesday's fire have not been reported.
The stakes of that distinction are serious. Civilian fire fatality rates in older mobile homes have historically reached up to double the fatality rate per fire recorded in traditional site-built single-family homes, according to national fire data highlighted by Fire Engineering. Rapid involvement can create serious hazards in mobile home fires.
