MiYa Chinese, the dumpling-and-noodle spot that opened in East Dallas's Casa Linda Plaza in late 2024, is planning a second Dallas-Fort Worth location inside Frisco's The Mix development, with plans for a $900,000 renovation and a 2,800-square-foot rooftop patio. The restaurant is locally owned and led by co-founder David Romano and business partner Jia Huang.

According to whatnow.com, the new restaurant will sit at 5302 Dallas Parkway, Suite 500, inside The Mix. The development itself is a 112-acre mixed-use masterplan rising along the Dallas North Tollway at Lebanon Road, according to oftmw.com. Romano told whatnow.com that Frisco's residential density made it a better fit for MiYa than a more transient retail corridor, a comment that lines up with the brand's neighborhood-first approach.

Exactly when the doors will open is still a little fuzzy. Community Impact reports construction on the 4,000-square-foot interior is expected to start Oct. 1, 2026, and wrap by April 1, 2027, citing Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings. Romano, meanwhile, told the same outlet he expects the restaurant to open toward the end of the first quarter of 2027, while oftmw.com lists the project as targeted for April 2027.

A $900,000 Build-Out With Room to Dine Outside

Whatever the exact opening date turns out to be, the scope of the project is clear. The renovation will cost an estimated $900,000, per Community Impact's reporting on the licensing filings, and will include that 2,800-square-foot rooftop patio — a notable upgrade from MiYa's original East Dallas space. The chain built its reputation there on made-to-order dumplings, hand-pulled noodles and scratch-made traditional Chinese dishes, WhatNow's report notes.

Frisco is not the end of the road. MiYa has two more Dallas-Fort Worth locations in the pipeline beyond Frisco — one in Fort Worth and another at Preston Road and Park Boulevard in Plano — both with leases signed and expected to open within the next 18 months to two years, per the same whatnow.com account.

Growth Tied to a Bigger Restaurant Group

Growth Tied to a Bigger Restaurant Group Separately, Local Favorite Restaurants, a Dallas-based group, has seen broader momentum. Every one of Local Favorite's brands experienced year-over-year sales growth last year, and that momentum has continued into this year, according to Nation's Restaurant News. The group now counts nearly 100 locations across 10 concepts, and in June it acquired Cotton Patch Café, adding 46 locations to its portfolio in one move, the trade publication reports. Local Favorite's roster also includes the 108-year-old El Fenix and the Chinese concept Wokstar, with Wokstar, Meso Maya and Taqueria La Ventana standing out as its three proprietary brands.

As The Dallas Morning News first reported, MiYa's East Dallas restaurant opened in a former Pei Wei location on Garland Road, complete with pink patterned chandeliers that have become something of a signature look. The Fort Worth restaurant is expected to open next, followed by Frisco, while Plano remains another planned location.
