Monterra at WestWorld threw open its doors again last Friday after a round of city-funded renovations gave the longtime North Scottsdale event space a new roof, updated heating and cooling, and accessible restrooms. The venue, tucked at the western end of WestWorld at 16601 N. Pima Road, is now a fully climate-controlled space built for year-round weddings, corporate gatherings and community celebrations.

City officials and WestWorld partners marked the milestone with a ribbon-cutting and open house on Oct. 23, according to the Arizona Progress Gazette. Monterra has been part of WestWorld since 1990, but this reopening comes with a noticeably different look and feel, thanks to a refreshed interior and exterior paint job, new indoor and outdoor flooring, and restroom upgrades meant to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, per the same outlet.

From Private Operator to City-Run Venue

The renovation marks more than a cosmetic refresh. Monterra operated under a private agreement until November 2024, when the operating model shifted and the city of Scottsdale took over, and it now manages the space as a rental facility within the city-owned and operated WestWorld complex, the Gazette reports. A Scottsdale City Council agenda from that same period, filed with the city, lists termination of the Monterra Food and Alcohol License Agreement as approved on consent, alongside adoption of Resolution No. 13269.

The renovation itself drew on multiple funding sources. The Scottsdale Tourism Development Commission voted to recommend transferring up to $430,000 in savings from the Scottsdale Sports Complex project to help pay for the Monterra upgrades, according to Citizen Portal. That same report notes the project also included $400,000 already secured from the Bureau of Reclamation, and describes Monterra as a 12,000-square-foot event facility at WestWorld.

What's Inside the Refreshed Venue

Inside, Monterra features a ballroom with a full bar, plus three outdoor function spaces and patios that look out over the WestWorld polo field toward the McDowell Mountains, the Gazette reports. The venue is designed to host corporate meetings, private parties, conventions, galas and weddings, with M Culinary Concepts providing exclusive catering and bar service.

New Rates Set Under a One-Year Pilot

Renting Monterra now comes with city-set pricing: daily rates run $3,000 from Thursday through Sunday and $750 from Monday through Wednesday, according to the Gazette's report. A separate city agenda item lists proposed fiscal year 2026/27 rates and fees for the Monterra facility, according to a City of Scottsdale agenda.

For now, Monterra stands as one more piece of the city's broader push to keep WestWorld's facilities competitive for event bookings, with the renovated venue positioned to handle everything from intimate private parties to large-scale galas under one climate-controlled roof.
