A Morgan County couple has been sentenced to 15 years each in federal prison after pleading guilty to sexually exploiting a teenage girl, a case that investigators say first came to light when the victim reported an unsettling video she received over Snapchat from an unknown account. Darrison Hood and Keirsten Hooper will each serve a decade of supervised release once they're out, and both must comply with sex offender registry requirements during that time.
According to the Department of Justice, as reported by WVLT, Hood and Hooper each pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child. The case began when FBI agents, the Ninth Judicial District Task Force and the Morgan County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation after the girl reported receiving the disturbing video. Officials say the footage showed her intoxicated and being sexually assaulted by Hood and Hooper, with a gun involved in the attack.
Plea Deal Details the Night in Question
The crime occurred at Hood's residence in Morgan County on Feb. 5, 2025, according to The Mountain Press. The outlet reports that the video showed the minor victim intoxicated and nude on a bed with two clothed adults identified as Hooper and Hood. The minor victim contacted the Morgan County Sheriff's Office on March 4, 2025, after receiving the video from an unknown account, setting the investigation in motion.
Eight days later, on March 12, 2025, investigators executed a search warrant at Hood's home, per the same report. During that search, investigators found the gun used in the assault. Hood told authorities he owned the firearm, made the video and sent it to the victim before later deleting it.
Guilty Pleas and Conflicting Ages in Court Records
Court filings cited by the news outlet indicate Hood's plea agreement stated he admitted to producing the child pornography video and distributing it to the minor victim through Snapchat. Both defendants signed plea deals agreeing to plead guilty to the sex crime ahead of sentencing.
