A Murray, Kentucky woman who was allegedly pistol-whipped during a violent home invasion earlier this month is now facing her own felony drug charges, after investigators say they found evidence of trafficking inside the home where she was attacked. Leslie Davis, 64, suffered a fractured orbital bone and lacerations requiring approximately 28 stitches, according to authorities, while two other people arrested in connection with the case remain jailed on $20,000 cash bonds each.

A Violent Night on Cambridge Drive

Calloway County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home on Cambridge Drive in Murray on Oct. 17 after Davis reported that an unknown man had entered the residence, assaulted her with a handgun and stolen items, according to KFVS12. Davis told investigators that the man, later identified as Michael B. Lane, 43, of Kevil, struck her repeatedly in the head and face with the handgun while another woman, later identified as Marla Salas, 60, of Hardin, was present, according to the Murray Ledger. Davis was lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center the same day, according to Radio NWTN.

Davis's injuries were severe. The Murray Ledger's report details lacerations requiring roughly 28 stitches and a fractured orbital bone, consistent with repeated blows to the head and face. Investigators have said they do not believe the attack was random, per the same outlet's reporting, and noted signs of drug trafficking inside the home.

Victim Now Faces Her Own Charges

In a twist to the case, Davis herself was charged with first-degree trafficking of a controlled substance involving at least 2 grams of methamphetamine, a first offense, as the Murray Ledger reports. She also faces a first-offense marijuana trafficking charge covering between 8 ounces and less than 5 pounds, along with tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Radio NWTN. The drug charges stem from what investigators found at the Cambridge Drive residence while responding to the reported assault.

Security-camera footage reportedly captured the suspect vehicle in Davis's driveway around the time of the robbery, per Radio NWTN's account of the investigation. Investigators identified Lane and Salas as the man and woman described in Davis's report.

Manhunt Ends in Two Counties

Lane and Salas were both arrested Oct. 20, three days after the alleged attack, following an investigation that stretched across multiple western Kentucky counties, according to the Murray Ledger. Investigators located Lane in Ballard County and took him into custody on an active Calloway County warrant after what the paper described as a brief manhunt. He was lodged at the Ballard County Detention Center.

Salas, meanwhile, was found the same day at Lakeland Resort in Marshall County, where investigators had applied for a search warrant. She was apprehended, and deputies seized multiple cellphones and clothing items under that warrant, per the Murray Ledger's reporting.

Bloody Handgun Recovered, Charges Pending

Investigators also recovered a handgun in Ballard County that they believe is connected to the assault, one bearing blood spatter, along with other evidentiary items, according to the Murray Ledger. Lane and Salas were each charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery, both Class B felonies under Kentucky law — offenses defined respectively in KRS 511.020 and KRS 515.020.

Both Lane and Salas are scheduled for preliminary hearings at 9 a.m. on Nov. 4, and as of Oct. 27 each remained held on $20,000 cash bonds, the Murray Ledger reported. No court records independently confirming the charges or bond amounts were available beyond that reporting, and it remains unclear whether Davis, Lane or Salas have entered pleas or whether the case has reached any resolution.
