A New Hampshire man was sentenced Thursday for his role in an attempted assault and robbery in Hartford, Vermont that turned deadly last August, leaving one person dead and another injured. Police say 47-year-old Jeffrey Mullins was at the scene of the robbery gone wrong, one of three people allegedly planning to rob a home when the shooting broke out.
According to WCAX, Mullins was sentenced on a felony count of aiding in the attempted assault and robbery. He will spend six months behind bars and serve 10 years on probation, the outlet reported.
A Robbery Plan That Turned Fatal
Investigators say Mullins was with two other people planning to rob a home in Hartford when the situation escalated into gunfire, according to the same report. One person was killed and another was injured in the shooting, though the case against Mullins centered on his role in aiding the attempted robbery rather than the shooting itself.
The case had been working its way through the legal process since the shooting last August, culminating in Thursday's sentencing. As WVLT noted in its coverage of the sentencing, the case stems directly from that deadly encounter.
What Remains Unclear
Details about the other two people allegedly involved in the planned robbery, along with the identities of the person who died and the person who was injured, have not been disclosed in reporting on the case so far.
