A new kind of game room is headed to North Scottsdale, and it's not your average escape room. Time Mission plans to open its first Arizona location at Sonora Village in late spring or summer 2027, bringing a sprawling, 10,000-square-foot challenge arcade with more than 25 themed game rooms to the Hayden Road corridor near Loop 101.

According to KTAR News 92.3 FM, construction on the Scottsdale venue is set to begin in 2027, with Sonora Village located at Hayden just south of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, close to the Loop 101 interchange. The development arm behind the project, LOL Entertainment, is the same company that previously brought Museum of Illusions and Cluville Kids Escape Room to Scottsdale, the station's report notes. Rob Cooper, tied to LOL Entertainment, said the area has embraced immersive entertainment and that Time Mission adds a new kind of experience to the mix, per the same account.

Unlike a traditional escape room built around a single, linear storyline, Time Mission operates more like an active challenge arcade. Wristband-wearing teams of two to five players move through short, one-to-five-minute mental, physical, speed and skill tasks spread across the 25-plus portals, according to Room Escape Artist. Sessions run 60, 90 or 120 minutes, and players can repeat or skip individual rooms to rack up as many points as possible, dodging lasers, cracking codes and racing the clock along the way, per the KTAR account.

A National Rollout Lands in the Desert

Scottsdale is not an isolated bet for Time Mission. The concept is also launching or expanding in Boston, Dallas, Houston, Nashville and the Netherlands, joining earlier installations in West Nyack, New York, Manassas, Virginia, and Lincoln, Rhode Island, as reported by InnovationMap. That expansion traces back to a national partnership LOL Entertainment struck with Time Mission in January 2025 to scale the interactive challenge-room format across major U.S. markets, according to Business Wire. Hoodline previously reported a planned early-2027 opening at 200 State Street in the Marketplace Center complex.

Time Mission designs its portals for players as young as 6 and as old as 106, aiming at intergenerational family visits, corporate team-building outings and school field trips, InnovationMap reports. That broad age range dovetails with the venue's location near the Scottsdale Airpark, where office tenants could supply a steady stream of team-building bookings alongside families looking for something to do indoors.

Why LOL Entertainment Is Betting Big on the Format

The Scottsdale push also reflects a shift inside LOL Entertainment's own portfolio. In January 2026, global investment firm Brightwood Capital Advisors acquired a majority stake in Museum of Illusions, transitioning five franchised locations, including Scottsdale's, from LOL Entertainment to corporate ownership, according to a PR Newswire release. LOL Entertainment has also partnered with Time Mission.

It's not LOL Entertainment's first rodeo in the Scottsdale market. The company opened Cluville Kids Escape Room at the nearby Arizona Boardwalk complex in January 2025, featuring four mystery-themed escape rooms built for kids ages 6 to 14 and designed around off-screen teamwork, according to Macaroni KID.

Sonora Village's Retail-Heavy Backdrop

The new arcade will sit inside Sonora Village, a 269,000-square-foot Class A power center owned and operated by YAM Properties, a real estate investment firm within YAM Worldwide, which was founded by GoDaddy founder Bob Parsons, according to YAM Properties. The firm manages nearly 3 million square feet of Phoenix-area real estate, and Sonora Village sits along Hayden Road just south of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, near Loop 101.

Time Mission will add an indoor entertainment option to the Valley, with a late spring or summer 2027 opening target.
