A man is dead after what Houston police describe as a family altercation that turned physical Friday evening in northwest Houston, with investigators saying he reportedly hit his head on the pavement during the confrontation. Officers were called to the 5700 block of Hollister Street, where Houston Fire Department crews were already on scene performing life-saving measures before he was rushed to a hospital.
According to ABC13 Houston, police said a man is dead after an altercation with family members on Friday evening. The outlet reports that what started as a verbal confrontation escalated into a physical one, and the man then reportedly hit his head on the pavement.
Houston Fire Department crews were already at the scene, performing life-saving measures, the station reports, before the man was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The account does not specify what led to the initial dispute or how many family members were involved.
No Word Yet on Charges
As of Saturday, HPD did not say whether anyone will be charged in the incident, per the same report, and investigators said the investigation remains ongoing. No further details on the identities of those involved have been released.
The Hollister Street death comes amid a separate, unrelated case in north Houston that also began with a physical altercation. A man died Saturday evening after a physical altercation at an auto body shop in north Houston, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by FOX 26 Houston.
Auto Shop Altercation Headed to Grand Jury
That incident happened at an auto body shop on Willis Street near the Hardy Toll Road and Aldine Bender Road, FOX 26 reports. Investigators said one man struck the other, causing him to fall and become unresponsive, before he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
In that case, authorities had not determined whether the victim died from being struck, hitting his head on the ground, or a medical condition during the altercation, according to the station. The case will be handled as a homicide investigation and sent to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for review by a grand jury, and it was not immediately clear whether the man involved would face charges.
Both cases remain open, and neither department has released additional details on potential charges. Houston police have not said whether any updates are expected in the Hollister Street investigation.
