Omaha is starting Saturday under clear skies near 61 degrees, but fall will take another brief back seat as temperatures climb toward 90. The day will be sunny, dry and breezy, with a cooler, stormier pattern waiting by midweek.
The National Weather Service Omaha/Valley forecast calls for south winds of 12 to 15 knots initially, increasing to 15 to 25 knots, with later gusts of 30 to 40 knots. Saturday night should stay clear with a low near 67, so the evening will feel more like late summer than mid-October.
Gusty Winds Raise Fire-Weather Concerns
The strongest winds are expected across parts of northeastern Nebraska, where gusts could reach 30 to 40 mph or higher. Drier air and dry vegetation could increase fire-weather concerns, especially north of the Platte River, so residents should use extra care with outdoor flames and other ignition sources.
No weather alerts are listed for the Omaha forecast area. Even so, the combination of heat, sun and wind could make outdoor plans feel noticeably warmer and rougher than the calendar suggests.
Warm Weekend Gives Way To Midweek Storms
Sunday remains sunny and warm with a high near 87, followed by another mostly sunny day Monday near 86. Temperatures then slide to the mid-70s Tuesday.
The next precipitation chance in the mid-Missouri River Valley arrives Wednesday, October 14, with a 25–50% chance of one inch of rain as the high reaches only about 71. Thursday brings a chance of rain showers near 69, while Friday looks cooler and mostly sunny with a high around 62.
