Orlando is starting Tuesday clear and around 69 degrees, but the calm-looking sky comes with a catch: Northeast winds will strengthen through the afternoon, with gusts of 35 to 40 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for Orange County and much of east-central Florida. The high should reach about 82 degrees before a breezy, partly cloudy night around 71.
Afternoon Winds Could Complicate Travel
According to the National Weather Service, northeast winds will run 15 to 25 mph, with frequent gusts between 35 and 40 mph, especially near the coast. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should use extra caution, while residents may want to secure loose patio furniture, decorations and anything else that could take an unscheduled trip down the block. The advisory is a notable escalation from Monday’s Hoodline update.
Wednesday Brings The Week’s Wettest Stretch
Wednesday looks like the most unsettled day in the near-term forecast, with rain showers likely from about 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a better chance of showers and thunderstorms. The chance of precipitation rises to about 70%, while the high reaches near 82 degrees and gusty onshore winds continue into midweek. Thursday remains warm at about 84 degrees, with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Coast Faces Rough Surf And Flooding
Orlando is inland, but the east-central Florida coast is facing the more serious weather hazards. The National Weather Service says rough surf, breaking waves of 7 to 11 feet, dangerous rip currents, beach erosion and minor to moderate coastal flooding may continue through early Friday. Entering the ocean is not advised, and saltwater flooding could affect low-lying coastal roads, lots, docks and yards during high tide.
Warm Weather Returns For The Weekend
Friday and Saturday should be mostly sunny to partly sunny, with highs near 84 and 85 degrees, respectively, although afternoon showers and thunderstorms remain possible. Sunday stays warm near 84 degrees with a 40% chance of showers and storms, while overnight lows generally range from the upper 60s to low 70s. For Orlando residents, Tuesday is mainly a wind-management day, while Wednesday is the better day to keep an umbrella nearby.
