Outkast and Waffle House have announced a merchandise collaboration, with a drop of shirts, hats, socks and other items set to go live on Outkast.com at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 2. The pairing brings together the Atlanta hip-hop duo and the beloved Southern diner chain in a release that has fans of both doing a double take.
According to CBS News Atlanta, the Outkast and Waffle House merchandise drop includes shirts, hats, socks and more, with the station reporting the collection will be available starting Friday morning. The outlet also reported that Outkast and Waffle House shared a video showing merchandise options, giving fans their first real look at what's coming.
Per that same report, the lineup includes a bucket hat, a hoodie and a baseball jersey, along with socks offered in two different colors. The station's coverage also notes that Andre 3000 and Big Boi wore Outkast-branded Waffle House uniforms, tying the apparel directly to the duo's Atlanta identity.
A Teaser Rooted in a Classic Lyric
Waffle House teased the collaboration with a photo of a Waffle House sign, and that sign displayed the phrase “Gator Belts and Patty Melts,” according to the CBS Atlanta report. As Exclaim! notes, the line is a lyric from Outkast's 2000 hit “So Fresh, So Clean,” pulled from the group's Stankonia album. The image was first posted on Instagram, the outlet reports, sparking speculation before the collaboration's exact nature was confirmed.
Before CBS News Atlanta's report clarified the project as a merch drop, that Instagram teaser had left plenty of room for guessing. AllHipHop described the image as suggesting “some kind of collaboration with Waffle House,” while noting that neither side had publicly revealed exactly what was coming at the time. That same outlet also points out that Waffle House opened its first Georgia location back in 1955, a detail that underscores just how deep the chain's Southern roots run alongside Outkast's own.
Other outlets covering the teaser were similarly cautious about reading too much into it. Dork reported that the initial announcement did not establish whether the project would involve new music, a performance or another kind of project, and added that the teaser offered no indication either member had recorded music for the collaboration.
A Big Year for the Duo
The merch drop lands during a milestone stretch for the group. Outkast was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2025, and this year the duo is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Atliens, their second studio album, originally released in 1996. The group has not released a new album since 2006 and has been largely inactive since its reunion tour wrapped in 2016, according to Exclaim!, making even a merchandise collaboration notable for longtime fans watching for any sign of activity.
For now, the confirmed offering is apparel rather than music: shirts, hats, socks, a hoodie, a bucket hat and a baseball jersey, all tied to the Waffle House theme. The drop opens at 10 a.m. Friday on Outkast.com, giving fans in Atlanta and beyond their first chance to grab a piece of the crossover.
