Pet Resource Center of Kansas City, founded in 2002, provides affordable veterinary services and support for local families with pets. The nonprofit’s programs include spay and neuter care, urgent treatment, pet food assistance and education, according to its organizational profile and KCTV5.
The organization reported serving more than 42,000 pets in 2025, completing nearly 15,000 spay and neuter surgeries and distributing more than $670,000 in financial assistance, KCTV5 reported. The station also reported that PRC hears from pet owners who cannot afford care elsewhere and that rising household costs are contributing to demand for help.
How the fundraiser will work
FOX4 reported that PRC’s second annual Catwalk Pub Crawl is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, in downtown Overland Park, following last year’s event in Waldo. Proceeds will be divided equally between PRC and Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary. The self-guided route runs from 2 to 5 p.m. and includes Maloney’s, Tallboyz Garage, The Other Place and The Peanut. Check-in and a pre-party are scheduled at Maloney’s, 7201 West 79th St., from 1 to 2 p.m., according to FOX4.
FOX4 reported that advance sign-up is encouraged, though participants may also register at the event during check-in. Registered attendees receive a light blue event shirt with a space to mark each stop and a swag bag, while supplies last. Organizers are also collecting pet supplies through PRC’s “Stuff the Van” drive, which aims to gather supplies for local pets and their families, the station reported.
