The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is responding to a barricaded suspect on the 8200 block of Alhambra Avenue in Paramount.

The Special Enforcement Bureau announced it was responding to the barricaded suspect in a post shared Saturday morning by LA County Sheriffs

on X.

The response was publicly confirmed Saturday morning. The department said no additional information was available beyond those details at the time of the post, and it is not known whether the suspect was located inside a specific residence, whether anyone else was present, or how the standoff would ultimately be resolved.

What LASD Is and Isn't Saying

The response announcement did not name the suspect or detail the circumstances behind the incident. Questions about the suspect's exact location on the block, whether a weapon has been seen during the standoff, and whether anyone has been injured remain unanswered.

Paramount residents and anyone with information about the incident are being asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Lakewood station at (562) 623-3500. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or through the P3 Tips mobile app or LACrimeStoppers.org.

Alhambra Avenue's Recent History With Standoffs

This is not the first time deputies have confronted an armed, barricaded situation in the area. In a separate incident the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to the 8000 block of Alhambra Avenue after 35-year-old Marcos Alfonso allegedly threatened people with a gun and took his child, according to CBS Los Angeles. That report, which detailed a prior case rather than Saturday's incident, said Alfonso was allegedly holding his 2-year-old child in one arm while pointing a handgun at deputies with the other.

The station reported that deputies negotiated with Alfonso for 25 minutes before he pointed the handgun at them, prompting a rifle-equipped deputy to open fire. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead, while the child was unharmed, per the same account.

The earlier case is separate from Saturday's barricaded-suspect response on Alhambra Avenue.
