A South-Central Kansas nonprofit, Simply Hygiene has distributed millions of hygiene products since 2019. Its offerings include toothbrushes and soap, and it also provides diapers.

From a Kansas City Affiliate to a Growing Regional Operation

Simply Hygiene started in 2019 as an affiliate of Giving the Basics in Kansas City, according to the Wichita Eagle. The organization has since distributed more than 4.5 million hygiene products to people in need around the Wichita area, the paper reported. Executive director Megan Kice has overseen that growth, and the nonprofit's current warehouse sits at 5440 N. Mill Heights Drive in Park City, per the Eagle's reporting on the new expansion.

A Volunteer-Powered Mission

Simply Hygiene relies on more than 10,000 volunteers.

The organization distributes hygiene products through schools and partner charities. Its offerings include diapers alongside toothpaste, deodorant, soap and shampoo, according to KSN, which reported that the nonprofit gave away 1.5 million items in 2023 alone.

How Many People Does Simply Hygiene Actually Reach?

The Eagle reported that Simply Hygiene serves more than 65,000 people across 174 schools and 58 charities each month. The nonprofit's website says it provides access to hygiene products for more than 100,000 people monthly.

Whatever the precise number, the need behind it is well documented nationally. The Urban Institute has estimated it would take an average of almost 4.8 billion diapers a year to close the national diaper gap, and the National Diaper Bank Network reported in its 2026 research that one in two families still experience diaper insecurity. Simply Hygiene's roots trace back to the broader mission described by Giving the Basics, which aims to bring improved health, hope and dignity to struggling children and adults through hygiene product distribution.

Other Nonprofits Expand to Meet Demand

In Mooresville, North Carolina, the Kindness Closet said a warehouse renovation funded by a Lowe's grant would increase its ability to distribute hygiene products by nearly 30 percent, according to WSOC-TV. Simply Hygiene has grown from a Kansas City affiliate into an organization distributing products around Wichita.
