San Diego is waking up Friday to light rain, with a high forecast near 69. Showers should be most noticeable this morning before easing, with partial sunshine returning later in the day.
The National Weather Service San Diego says scattered showers could continue into Friday evening, then end from the northwest late tonight. Its aviation section forecasts clearing from north to south after 8 p.m. Friday. The point forecast puts the chance of rain at about 30%, with rainfall generally expected to range from 0.10 to 0.33 inch from the coast to the mountains through Friday night, with locally greater amounts near the coast.
Dry, Warmer Weekend Ahead
Friday night could bring another brief shower before skies turn mostly clear, with a low around 58. Saturday will be dry and warmer, with temperatures rising, followed by highs around 79 Sunday and highs rising a few more degrees Monday.
The warm-up will fade gradually next week, with temperatures cooling Tuesday through Thursday. Winds should generally stay light, though some afternoon breezes are possible.
High Tides Raise Coastal Flooding Concern
Despite the improving weather, high tides could create a coastal issue starting Saturday. The weather service says morning high tides may reach 7 feet Saturday and exceed 7.5 feet by Monday, with locally significant impacts possible from Monday through Wednesday.
People near low-lying beaches, bays and waterfront roads should keep an eye on updated tide and coastal flooding information. No watches, warnings or advisories are currently listed for the area.
