Raleigh is waking up to mostly clear skies and temperatures in the mid-50s Tuesday, with a mostly sunny afternoon expected to reach about 72 degrees. Rain is not expected today, but the bigger story is the quick swing ahead: a chilly night near 47 will give way to warmer afternoons that peak near 84 on Thursday.
Sunny Tuesday Brings A Chilly Night
Tuesday’s northeast wind will run 5 to 8 mph as temperatures rise through the 60s and into the low 70s. Skies stay mostly clear Tuesday night, with light east winds and a low around 47 — jacket weather, at least until the sun clocks in.
Warmth Builds Through Thursday
Wednesday looks sunny and mild, with a high near 78 and a low around 54 Wednesday night. Thursday brings mostly sunny skies and the warmest day of the workweek, topping out near 84 with light west winds. Friday remains mostly sunny near 80.
Weekend Rain Chances Return
The dry run should last through Friday, according to the National Weather Service, which lists no watches, warnings or advisories for the Raleigh area. Saturday stays partly sunny near 76, but rain chances increase Saturday night after 8 p.m., followed by likely showers Sunday, a mostly cloudy day with a high near 75 and a 60% chance of rain.
Showers may linger into Columbus Day, with a 50% chance of rain and a high near 77 before skies turn partly cloudy Monday night. That is a substantive update from Monday’s Hoodline forecast, which also kept the workweek dry but showed a weaker signal for weekend rain.
