Streets Closed for Hours as Investigation Continues
As of 9:15 a.m. Sunday, police still had the area between 96th and 84th Streets along the roadway blocked off, the station reported. No further details on what caused the crash, how many vehicles were involved, or whether anyone was cited have been released.
The closure left a significant stretch of the corridor impassable for drivers in the area during the investigation, though it remains unclear when the roads reopened to traffic.
Ralston Has Seen Serious Crashes Before
Sunday's crash is not the only serious wreck to hit the area in recent memory. In January, a three-vehicle crash at 72nd and Harrison left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to WOWT. There is no indication the two incidents are connected.
In that earlier crash, La Vista Police Capt. Kraig Goman said two people were transported from the scene with serious injuries, and police later reported that one of them had died. A Metro crash response team was brought in at the time to determine what happened, and that intersection was closed for about three hours before reopening around 3:45 p.m., per the same report.
No additional information about Sunday's crash near 90th and Harrison has been released. Hoodline will update this story as more details become available.
