A reward is now on the table for information leading to the arrest of Shaheed Mincy, a 21-year-old fugitive wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Strongsville man who was gunned down while trying to sell an iPad through Facebook Marketplace. Mincy has been on the run since a Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted him on aggravated murder charges in May 2025, and investigators say he's known to frequent the Cleveland area.
The case traces back to the evening of October 28, 2025, when 43-year-old Maher Salti arranged to meet a buyer outside the Ohio Gas station at 1980 Noble Road in East Cleveland. Around 6:38 p.m., Salti was shot in the head and chest and rushed to University Hospitals, where he later died, according to WKYC. Salti was killed during what should have been a routine online sale.
Cell Phone Left Behind Cracked the Case
Investigators recovered a cell phone at the scene containing text messages showing the buyer had planned to rob Salti during the meetup, the station's report states. That digital evidence helped East Cleveland police identify and issue an initial aggravated murder warrant for Mincy, then 19 years old. Per a case file maintained by Solve the Case, a grand jury indicted Mincy in May 2025; court records show no arrest disposition or court appearances since — confirming Mincy's continuous status as an active fugitive.
The same case file notes that East Cleveland police and task force officers have also been trying to identify a second suspect believed to be involved in the case. That individual's identity remains an open question in the investigation.
Salti was a married father of three and local store owner, according to the National Gun Violence Memorial, and his death prompted local warnings about the risks of meeting strangers for peer-to-peer marketplace sales in unmonitored parking lots. Police departments frequently recommend using station parking lots as safer exchange points for exactly this reason.
What Mincy Faces If Caught
Officials describe Mincy as a Black male standing 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 240 pounds, and say he is wanted by both the East Cleveland Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, according to Cleveland 19 News. Under Ohio Revised Code § 2903.01, aggravated murder committed during an aggravated robbery carries a penalty of life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty for adult offenders.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward and accepting tips in the search for Mincy.
East Cleveland has faced violence in recent years. Hoodline has covered another fugitive case.
