A Hawaiʻi radio hitmaker who later co-founded a Nashville band with Colbie Caillat is headed to West Maui next week. Justin Kawika Young, lead vocalist for the Hawaiʻi supergroup Seven Suns, will perform at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua on Nov. 6, 2026, as part of the resort's ongoing Kapalua Concert Series.
According to Maui Now, the show is complimentary and open to the public, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis and no reservations required. The resort is located at 1 Ritz-Carlton Drive in Kapalua, a detail confirmed by the hotel's own event listing, which bills the night simply as the Kapalua Concert Series featuring Justin Kawika Young.
Attendees can expect to purchase food and beverages throughout the evening, and complimentary valet parking will be available, per the same account. The performance is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. local time and will take place at the Alaloa Lounge, with the evening's setting described as alongside the sacred shores of Honokahua.
A Local Voice With National Credits
Young was born in Hawaiʻi and raised on Oʻahu before relocating to Los Angeles to build his career. Along the way he earned 11 No. 1 hits on Hawaiʻi radio, a track record detailed by gohawaii.com, which notes that today he balances his role as lead vocalist for Seven Suns with an intimate solo show.
His path to the mainland included a stint as acoustic guitarist and background vocalist in Colbie Caillat's band, and he went on to co-write two songs on Caillat's album All Of You, according to the same report. In 2019, Young and Caillat formed a band in Nashville with two friends called Gone West, as Blue Note Hawaii reports. That group went on to debut at the Grand Ole Opry, and its single What Could Have Been hit the top 25 at Country Radio. Young also toured internationally with country artist Brett Young, per the same Maui Now report.
Seven Suns' Award-Season Momentum
Back home, Young performs with Seven Suns, a Hawaiʻi supergroup that the Maui Arts & Cultural Center describes as a collective of seven diverse souls — artists, producers, engineers, backup musicians, and musical directors, according to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The group's 2025 haul included six Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, among them honors for Group of the Year and Single of the Year, Maui Now reports.
That momentum follows the late-2024 release of Many Feathers, which was nominated for eight awards in seven categories at the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, according to the Maui News. Seven Suns previously performed at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's Castle Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2024, the paper noted in an earlier story, and the Hawaiʻi Public Radio program The Conversation has described Young's recent years as spanning solo albums, touring with national recording artists and releasing music with Seven Suns.
Resort Ties Concert to Sense of Place
Melissa Lee, hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, said the resort is honored to welcome Young and that his music reflects its sense of place and connection, according to Maui Now. The Kapalua Concert Series is framed as part of the resort's broader commitment to celebrating local culture and supporting Hawaiʻi's music community, the outlet reports.
Ticket prices for Young's other recent Maui dates offer some context for how his shows are typically valued. A separate 2025 performance at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center listed tickets at $35, $45 and $65 plus applicable fees, per Maui News, while a 2026 listing on gohawaii.com priced a Maui Arts & Cultural Center show at $37, $57 and a limited number at $77, including all taxes and fees. The Kapalua Concert Series date, by contrast, carries no admission charge at all.
