The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says it has arrested and charged a 30-year-old Roswell man with six counts of sexual exploitation of children, capping an investigation that stretched back roughly a year and a half. Ahmed Shengeb was booked into the DeKalb County Jail on October 23, according to the case details now coming to light.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Shengeb was arrested and charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of children. The GBI's Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit opened its investigation in May 2025, as reported by Atlanta News First.
Tips From a National Watchdog Group Sparked the Probe
The investigation began after the GBI's Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, according to the GBI. The Roswell Police Department assisted in the investigation, according to the GBI.
The evidence gathered and publicly released so far does not detail the specific conduct underlying each of the six counts, nor does it identify any alleged victims or specify the suspected material beyond the general description of possible distribution of child sexual abuse material. It also does not address Shengeb's attorney, bond or detention status, court dates, or how the case may ultimately be resolved.
Part of a Broader Pattern of GBI Child Exploitation Cases
Georgia's GBI has brought similar cases against men across the state in recent months. In April 2026, the agency announced it had arrested and charged Steven David Olsen, 38, of Peachtree City, with five counts of sexual exploitation of children, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. In a separate case, the GBI's Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit opened an investigation into a Martin man after receiving a referral from the Hall County Sheriff's Office about possible online activity, the agency has said.
The GBI has also pointed to the scale of the problem in prior statewide operations. In its Operation Byte Down initiative, the agency said investigators identified 13 children living in households where online child sexual exploitation was occurring, and that one person arrested in that operation admitted to current or prior hands-on sexual offenses against a child, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. That operation and the Peachtree City and Hall County cases are separate matters from the Shengeb investigation, but they reflect the kind of tip-driven casework the GBI's Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit regularly pursues.
