Sacramento is heading into Friday with clear skies and one more hot afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 90s to low 100s, then fall into the 70s Saturday and Sunday.
Friday Brings One More Hot Afternoon
The National Weather Service Sacramento office forecast calls for sunny skies Friday, with south winds increasing to 9 mph by late afternoon. Highs are expected in the upper 90s to low 100s. It will still feel more like summer than fall during the warmest part of the day, but the heat will not linger into the weekend.
Friday night should be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 59 degrees. South winds will strengthen, with gusts around 25 mph, so patio umbrellas, loose decorations and lightweight outdoor gear may need extra attention.
Saturday Starts The Big Cooldown
Saturday will be sunny but dramatically cooler, with a high near 77 and breezy, gusty onshore winds giving the region a noticeably breezier feel as the weekend gets underway.
Sunday looks even cooler, with sunshine and a high near 71 degrees. The change is a substantial update from Thursday's Hoodline forecast, which focused on the final stretch of near-100-degree heat.
Rain Chances Appear Sunday Night
The forecast points to a chance of rain late Sunday night or into early Monday. Sacramento is not looking at a washout, but early-week plans could encounter a few wet spots before skies turn mostly sunny again.
Monday's high should remain near 72 degrees, followed by a sunny 75-degree Tuesday. The longer-range outlook then trends warmer, reaching the upper 70s Wednesday and around 81 degrees Thursday.
