Jamario David McCool, 24, of Saint Paul faces one felony count of threats of violence and four misdemeanor counts of fifth-degree assault in Ramsey County District Court. The available MN Crime case listing identifies October 1 as the incident date. The allegations summarized here are based in part on MN Crime’s reporting on the complaint.
Allegations described in the complaint
Witnesses told police that a resident invited McCool to the home after meeting him online, and that people there drank together. According to the complaint as described by MN Crime, witnesses said McCool threatened to kill people in the home and punched one woman twice in the eye. He allegedly refused to leave when asked.
A woman told officers that McCool struck her in the face and chest and held her in a chokehold that made breathing difficult. She also reported that he threatened people in the home and her two children, who were sleeping in the living room, according to the complaint.
A roommate said he saw McCool punch two women and intervened to protect them. The roommate reported that McCool bit his arm during the ensuing struggle and later tried to assault one of the women again. Another witness said McCool hit him in the head and scratched his arm after being taken outside. Officers noted bruises, scratches and cuts on several people, MN Crime reported.
Police response and additional alleged threats
Police were called after a 911 report that a male friend had punched several people. Officers found McCool with blood on his face and shirt, and he appeared heavily intoxicated, according to the complaint. It also alleges that he resisted arrest, threatened officers and lunged out of a squad car. During transport to a hospital, he allegedly made further threats toward officers and medical staff, including threats against their families.
The charges are allegations. McCool is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
