Saline County deputies came upon a man walking erratically along Interstate 70 Saturday night, and what they found behind that strange scene was an alleged beating by two co-workers who then fled in a vehicle. Jamol Ibragimov, 46, of Brooklyn, New York, and Sharof Shukurov, 46, of Puyallup, Washington, were arrested Oct. 13 and now face charges tied to the assault.
According to KMZU, the man found walking along I-70 was being transported by Ibragimov and Shukurov when the confrontation turned violent. Per the probable cause statement, Shukurov held the victim down while Ibragimov punched him, the report says.
Victim Fought Back With a Stick From a Roadside Ditch
The station's report says the victim grabbed a stick from a nearby ditch in an effort to deter his attackers. At some point during the chaos, Ibragimov reportedly grabbed the steering wheel of the vehicle, nearly causing an accident, before the two men allegedly fled the scene, leaving the victim behind.
Deputies ultimately found the man walking along the interstate, which is what first drew their attention to the incident, per the same account. Ibragimov and Shukurov were arrested Oct. 13.
Charges Diverge Between Report and Jail Roster
Charges Reported for Each Man KMZU's report identifies Ibragimov as facing a third-degree assault charge, while it describes Shukurov as charged with accessory to third-degree assault. The Saline County Sheriff's inmate roster includes an entry for Jamol Ibragimov.
Missouri Revised Statutes Section 565.054 defines third-degree assault as knowingly causing bodily harm to another person, according to the Missouri Revisor of Statutes.
