San Antonio police were called to the area near Babcock Road and Medical Drive on February 22, 2024, after a report of an apparent sudden death. What officers found in a wooded area behind an apartment complex was far worse than a routine call: the body of 47-year-old Regina Meyer Martinez, who had suffered multiple stab wounds and died near a homeless encampment along Snowden Road.
Officers responded around 2 p.m. that day to the 2500 block of Babcock Road, according to KSAT. Martinez was found with multiple stab wounds behind the apartment complex in a wooded area along the 7200 block of Snowden Road, and she died from her injuries, the outlet reported. Investigators classified her death as a homicide, according to News 4 San Antonio.
At the time she was killed, Martinez was experiencing homelessness, the station’s report noted, and police said she was found near a homeless encampment. More than two years later, investigators are still trying to identify and locate whoever was responsible for her killing, according to the seed reporting from WOAI News 4.
Case Remains Unsolved Years Later
San Antonio police and Crime Stoppers are asking the public for help finding who allegedly stabbed Martinez to death, per the same account from KSAT. Investigators are seeking the public’s help finding her killer, a search that has stretched well beyond the initial weeks following her death.
Crime Stoppers may pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to a felony arrest in the case, the station’s report notes. Anyone with information on her murder is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867 or submit a tip online.
No New Details on Suspect or Motive
Neither of the outlets covering the case has published details about a suspected motive, a recovered weapon, or any witnesses who may have seen what happened near the encampment that day. Investigators have not announced an arrest or named a suspect in the more than two years since Martinez was found, leaving her case open as authorities continue to lean on the public for leads.
