Clouds and showers are expected to move in over the weekend.

Rain Arrives Saturday Night

Saturday will be cooler, with mostly cloudy skies, a high near 79 and a slight chance of showers after 5 p.m. Rain chances rise to 70% Saturday night and Sunday, when showers are likely and the high should reach only 72 degrees.

Coastal areas could see winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. The National Weather Service says the broader shift could bring periods of soaking rain Sunday, followed by additional showers Monday and Tuesday.

Beach Conditions Stay Dangerous

Coastal flood advisories and beach hazards are in effect for San Diego County coastal areas, according to the National Weather Service. Surf of 3 to 5 feet, with sets up to 6 feet, could combine with high tides to flood some beach parking lots, boardwalks and low-lying roads.

Strong rip currents will make swimming hazardous, and a south swell is also expected. Stay out of the water, avoid rocks and jetties, and never drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.

A Cooler Start To Next Week

Monday could bring showers, with temperatures in the 70s. Tuesday brings a slight chance of morning showers before mostly sunny skies return, with highs near 71.

By Wednesday, San Diego should be sunny and around 73 degrees, followed by another sunny day near 82 on Thursday. For residents heading east, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through 8 p.m. Friday in the county deserts, where temperatures could reach 105.
