San Jose is waking up to clear skies before a hot October afternoon sends temperatures toward 94 degrees Wednesday. The Heat Advisory remains in effect through Thursday night, with the Santa Clara Valley facing another day of dangerous heat before a sharp weekend cooldown.
Wednesday Brings Peak Heat
Hot weather is expected Wednesday, with dry air adding to fire-weather concerns in the surrounding hills.
The advisory covers the Santa Clara Valley and Eastern Hills through 10 p.m. Thursday. Residents should drink water, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, and never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle, according to the National Weather Service.
Cooling Trend Arrives Friday
Hot temperatures will linger Thursday before a cooler pattern arrives Friday and continues into the weekend.
Overnight lows will be around 60 degrees, with weekend lows in the upper 60s. The forecast remains mostly dry, though rain chances rise slightly early next week as a broader pattern shift brings cooler, windier conditions to the region.
Heat Safety Remains The Priority
Residents should take heat precautions during the advisory and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle. Santa Clara County recommends checking its hot-weather safety page for cooling-center information as locations are activated.
