A Schertz man is being held in the Bexar County Jail on combined bail of $333,000 after a teenage girl told investigators he sexually abused her, supplied her with drugs and controlled her movements for roughly two years, beginning when she was just 14. Robert Wayne Vaughan Niznik now faces five charges tied to the allegations, which the girl described in detailed interviews with investigators earlier this year.

According to arrest reports described by KABB, Niznik faces aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child by sexual contact, injury to a child, unlawful restraint of a child and endangering a child. The girl told investigators she considered Niznik a relative through her stepfather's family, and she said he told her he was her dad.

How the Arrangement Allegedly Began

Per arrest reports, the girl said she first went to Niznik's RV park to sell drugs under an arrangement where she would keep half the profits. She told investigators that arrangement eventually became a sexual relationship, and she described it plainly: “I ended up sleeping with him to get drugs.”

The girl said her struggle with drug addiction began at an early age, and she told investigators she had a hard time saying no to Niznik. “I have a hard time saying 'no,'” she said, adding that she believed she was in love with him and was searching for a father figure at the time.

Allegations of Confinement and Control

The girl told investigators she lived at Niznik's property for approximately two months, during which he restricted her movements and prevented her from having a cellphone. She described the situation starkly: “No phone. No way to leave. No way out.”

Per arrest reports, Niznik warned the girl that cameras would capture her movements if she tried to leave and that someone could call police. She said Niznik repeatedly had sex with her while she was under the influence of methamphetamine and DMT, and that he recorded some of their sexual encounters on his cellphone. “The whole reason I was there was because he trapped me,” she told investigators.

Interviews Spanned Months, Relationship Continued Into 2026

The girl was first interviewed at ChildSafe in San Antonio on Aug. 5, and investigators spoke with her again on Aug. 18 about additional encounters. She said her relationship with Niznik continued intermittently into 2026.

By the time she spoke with investigators, the girl said she had been sober for about a month and a half, calling her sobriety a major milestone. “My sobriety is a big deal for me,” she said. “Nobody's gonna take my sobriety away from me.”

Charges Carry Decades-Long Prison Exposure

Niznik's lead charge, aggravated sexual assault of a child, is prosecuted in Bexar County by a dedicated Child Abuse Unit staffed by 22 prosecutors, with a prosecutor, investigator and advocate assigned to each of the county's ten district courts, according to Bexar County. The county identifies the charge as a first-degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison or life imprisonment.

Niznik remains held in the Bexar County Jail as the case proceeds. The evidence reviewed does not include a statement from Niznik, his attorney or his family responding to the allegations, and it does not indicate whether the charges have resulted in a conviction, dismissal, plea or trial outcome.
