Seattle woke Thursday with fog and mist and temperatures around 54 degrees, but the gray start is temporary. Skies should clear by late morning, setting up a sunny afternoon near 69 degrees. A dense fog advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m., making visibility the main issue for early drivers.
Dense Fog Through Thursday Morning
The National Weather Service says visibility could fall to a quarter-mile or less in dense fog across Seattle and nearby lowlands. Drivers should slow down, use headlights and leave extra distance ahead. The fog is expected to burn off late Thursday morning as light northerly winds continue.
Sunshine Takes Over By Afternoon
Once the fog lifts, Thursday should turn sunny, with temperatures climbing from the low 50s to a high near 69. Friday looks warmer and mostly sunny, reaching about 73 degrees with light south-southeast winds. Thursday afternoon and most of Friday offer the best window for outdoor plans before the weather shifts.
Rain Arrives Friday Night
The dry stretch could end after midnight Friday. Saturday stays mostly cloudy and cooler, with rain likely before 5 p.m. and a high near 61 degrees. Winds will turn more onshore, giving the weekend a distinctly wetter feel.
Cooler Weather Lingers Into Next Week
Saturday night should dry out and turn partly cloudy, with a low around 47 degrees. Sunday will be partly sunny near 58, while Monday should reach a high near 56, with unsettled weather possibly bringing light rain Sunday night and Monday. A slight chance of showers could linger Tuesday. Showers are expected to move out as skies clear.
Hoodline's earlier Seattle forecast had already flagged a late-week turn toward wetter weather, with the dry stretch possibly ending after midnight Friday. The latest outlook makes Saturday's cooler, wetter setup more clear.
