Two suspects armed with a knife kicked in the door of a Lake View Avenue home in Shrewsbury, threatened the people inside, grabbed multiple personal items and ran — and within a day, police say they were both in handcuffs at a residence across town in Worcester.

According to communityadvocate.com, the Shrewsbury Police Department was dispatched to the residence at roughly 8:30 p.m. last Thursday after a caller reported that two suspects had kicked in the door while armed with a knife. The suspects allegedly threatened the residents, stole several personal items, and then fled the scene before officers arrived.

Shrewsbury detectives and officers moved quickly. Per the same account, investigators were able to positively identify the two suspects in the day that followed, and on Friday, detectives applied for and were granted arrest warrants. Boston 25 News similarly reported that Shrewsbury detectives located the suspects after their investigation, leading to the arrests.

Worcester Gang Unit Makes the Arrests

Officers from the Worcester Police Department Gang Unit ultimately tracked the pair to a residence in Worcester, where they were taken into custody on Friday, the report notes. Police have not said the identities of the two suspects, and the specific charges filed against them beyond the arrest warrants have not been detailed.

Police told the news outlet that the incident does not appear to have been a random act, and that they do not believe the broader community is at risk. That characterization matches how Shrewsbury officials have described the case from the outset.

Not the First Armed Break-In in Town

Shrewsbury has dealt with armed home invasions before. In 2022, two women — ages 19 and 31 — allegedly broke into a home on Julio Drive and assaulted a woman inside while armed with knives, according to Patch. That victim was taken to UMass Memorial in Worcester for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and the two women were ultimately charged with armed home invasion along with multiple assault, property-damage and conspiracy offenses, Patch reported.

More recently, in March 2025, Shrewsbury police said four suspects from New York faced charges connected to a home break-in on Park Grove Lane, according to a separate Patch report. The department had also issued safety guidelines to residents back in February 2025 following a reported increase in home break-ins across town.

As of now, details about the suspects, the specific items taken, and any court proceedings have not been released, and this remains a developing story.
