
A man was shot during a reported robbery early Wednesday morning on Thornton Drive in South Fulton, and as of this report, no suspects have been caught. Officers rushed to the 2400 block of the street at around 5:30 a.m. after the shooting was called in, finding a victim who needed to be rushed to the hospital.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the man was shot during the reported robbery and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. South Fulton police responded to the reported robbery and shooting on Thornton Drive, and the outlet reports that investigators are now searching for suspects, with no arrests made so far.
Investigation Still in Early Stages

Beyond the time, location, and the fact that a man was shot and hospitalized, few other details have been released publicly, and police have not said how many suspects they are looking for or what led up to the gunfire.
The early-morning timing on Thornton Drive adds to a string of violent incidents tied to robberies in South Fulton this year, though none of these cases have been linked to one another. In one, a robbery at a South Fulton home led to a vehicle pursuit and a shooting between the homeowner and multiple suspects, leaving at least one person injured, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. That incident began at a residence in the 4700 block of Brookwood View, just north of South Fulton Parkway, around 4 p.m.
A Pattern of Shootings Across South Fulton
In a separate case this year, a man was in critical condition after being shot near South Fulton apartments, Atlanta News First reported, citing police. That shooting happened in the 1900 block of Waycrest Drive, near the Anthem at Riverside Senior Apartments and the Riverside Parc Apartments. There is no indication that any of these incidents are connected to the Thornton Drive shooting.
The City of South Fulton tracks what it calls Part I Crimes, a category that includes homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, auto theft, attempted auto theft, arson, burglary, and larceny. The City of South Fulton says its police department publishes weekly crime statistics broken down by district and citywide.
For now, the Thornton Drive case remains an open investigation. South Fulton police continue to search for whoever is responsible, and no arrests had been announced as of the time this report was published.
