Oklahoma City is getting one more warm, windy run before the forecast turns decidedly wetter for Halloween weekend. Tuesday night, skies were expected to be mostly clear, with temperatures around 61 degrees. Wednesday is expected to bring sunshine and an afternoon high near 80.
Warm Wednesday And Thursday
South winds will be gusty Wednesday, with gusts near 25 to 30 mph, while rain chances stay near zero. Thursday should be mostly sunny and even warmer, topping out near 82 before clouds and rain begin edging in late in the day.
The updated outlook is a wetter turn than Hoodline’s Tuesday forecast, particularly for Halloween itself. There are no watches, warnings or advisories posted for the Oklahoma City area, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain Moves In For Halloween Weekend
Rain chances rise late Thursday night, with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Friday. Friday is the soggiest day in the near-term forecast, with showers likely, isolated thunderstorm potential at best, a precipitation chance above 60% and a high near 70.
Showers remain likely Friday night. Saturday brings a 50% chance of rain showers, drier conditions by afternoon and a high near 75. For Halloween plans on Saturday, the forecast currently favors a mostly cloudy day with a chance of rain showers, though conditions are expected to become drier by afternoon, so costumes may need to coexist with umbrellas.
More Storm Chances Early Next Week
Sunday is expected to stay drier, with a high near 78; additional shower and thunderstorm chances arrive Sunday night. Another round of showers and thunderstorms is then likely Sunday night into Monday, when the high is expected near 74 and rain chances sit around 60%.
Forecast confidence drops for the Sunday night and Monday system, and the exact track will determine how much rain falls and whether stronger storms develop. For now, the heaviest rainfall is favored west of Oklahoma City, while areas along and east of Interstate 35 are more commonly expected to see roughly a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch through the first wave.
Behind that system, Tuesday has a forecast high of 66. The warm stretch is not exactly surrendering quietly, but Oklahoma City appears headed for a wetter, more complicated finish to the week.
