Andre Ford was sentenced to 80 years to life in state prison, and Didesisi Franklin received 26 years to life, for the 2021 shooting death of 25-year-old Jordan Amon Farmer inside his Spring Valley apartment. An El Cajon jury had convicted both men of murder and other charges before the sentences were handed down.
Farmer was shot and killed in his Spring Valley apartment on December 10, 2021, according to NBC 7 San Diego. Sheriff's deputies responding that day found Farmer at his apartment on Delrose Avenue near Elkelton Street suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso, per the San Diego Union-Tribune. He died before he could be taken to a hospital, the paper reported.
A Deadly Chain of Events
Prosecutors said the killing arose from a separate shooting outside a Spring Valley liquor store about a month earlier. During that earlier incident, Farmer, Jazmin Holdren Fevella and another woman were shot at, with Farmer fleeing the scene unhurt while the two women were wounded by gunfire, prosecutors said.
At the time of that earlier shooting, Ford was reportedly dating Fevella, and Franklin was said to be the father of the other wounded woman's child. Prosecutors said the women believed Farmer had interacted with the people behind the earlier shooting and had not warned them of the danger, a belief that prosecutors say set the stage for what followed.
The Fatal Confrontation on Delrose Avenue
Prosecutors alleged that Ford, Franklin and Fevella drove to Farmer's apartment on Delrose Avenue, where Ford shot Farmer once in the chest at the apartment's front door. The jury ultimately found Ford and Franklin guilty of murder and other charges in the case.
Fevella, who was also allegedly present for the drive to Farmer's apartment, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 12 years in state prison, according to the same NBC 7 San Diego report. Her plea and sentence came separately from the jury verdicts against Ford and Franklin.
Conflicting Details on Ages
Reports on the case have offered differing ages for the two men now sentenced. The NBC 7 San Diego report identifies Ford as 34 and Franklin as 32, while an earlier release from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department describes a then-29-year-old Ford and a 27-year-old Franklin at the time of the 2022 investigation.
That same Sheriff's Department release detailed the arrests that followed the killing: Franklin was arrested on December 17, 2021, Holdren was arrested on December 30, 2021, and Ford was arrested on January 11, 2022. Each suspect was booked on suspicion of murder, and the case was ultimately filed with the San Diego District Attorney's Office.
