Sprouts Farmers Market is about to add a new South Scottsdale store to its Arizona footprint, with doors opening at 7 a.m. on Friday. It lands at 1490 N. Scottsdale Road, near SkySong Boulevard, and the first wave of shoppers will leave with something extra. The same morning, the Phoenix-based chain opens another Arizona store south of Tucson.
According to Sprouts' own store page, the location sits at the intersection of N. Scottsdale Road and SkySong Boulevard. Phoenix New Times places the store at the southwest corner of Scottsdale and McDowell roads, across from the SkySong ASU Innovation Center. After opening day, the store will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., the same account reports.
Ribbon-Cutting, Free Tote Bags and a Rose
Sprouts staff and fans are set to gather for a ribbon-cutting at 6:45 a.m. Friday, per Phoenix New Times. Grand-opening deals run through Nov. 1, Axios reports.
The first 200 shoppers will receive a free reusable tote bag and a long-stemmed rose from Falcon Farms Floral, according to the Phoenix New Times report. Another 200 shoppers can pick up a free tote on Saturday. Customers who sign up for a Sprouts rewards account can get 20% off groceries all weekend.
Part of a Much Bigger Expansion
The Scottsdale store is one piece of a fast-moving growth push. USA Today reported that Sprouts said it was on track to open 42 new stores in 2026, with 24 of those coming between September and the end of the year. The same piece notes that 37 new locations opened in 2025.
Closer to home, ABC15 reports the Tucson-area store is opening in the master-planned suburban community of Rita Ranch. Sprouts also opened a Mesa store at 5131 South Ellsworth Road on September 18, Progressive Grocer reports. That same trade outlet says the chain celebrated its 500th location on September 12 in Spring, Texas.
The chain's own numbers vary depending on where you look. Sprouts' Scottsdale store page says the company employs approximately 31,000 team members and operates more than 480 stores in 25 states. A Sprouts press release on the Mesa opening cites approximately 36,000 team members and more than 500 stores in 25 states.
A Crowded Grocery Corner of Scottsdale
Sprouts won't be the only new grocer in South Scottsdale for long. Whole Foods Market says it will open a 38,158-square-foot store at 7628 E. Indian School Road on November 12, its 11th in Arizona. Axios adds that Aldi is hiring for a new store at 7919 E. Thomas Road, in an existing shopping center.
Axios also reports that about one in four households across the three ZIP codes that roughly cover the area earns less than $50,000. The share earning more than $200,000 ranges from one in 10 to nearly one in five, per 2024 census estimates for ZIP codes 85250, 85251 and 85257. The outlet notes that Americans visit an average of 5.4 grocery chains each month, while Gen Z shoppers visit 6.7.
