Gary Johnson remains missing after he was last seen at a Halls Ferry Road restaurant in July 2025. The 68-year-old has memory issues and was without his glasses, wallet or prescription medication when he disappeared, according to police. More than a year later, relatives say they have received no solid leads and continue to ask the public for help.
St. Louis County police say Johnson was last seen Thursday, July 10, 2025, at St. Louis Fish and Chicken on Halls Ferry Road, according to First Alert 4. FOX 2 reported that he was seen around 7:30 p.m. in the 10000 block of Halls Ferry Road, per FOX 2. He has not been seen since.
Johnson is described as a Black man with brown eyes, white hair and a medium complexion, standing 5-foot-7 and weighing about 150 pounds, the station's report notes. He is also known to frequent the area of St. Louis Avenue and Marcus Avenue.
Family Says a Year Has Passed Without a Single Lead
Johnson's granddaughter, Keanna Jackson, says the family has exhausted what they know to do and is now counting on the public. “We haven't had any leads within a year, so any kind of support will help us at this time,” she said, per the same account. In the meantime, the family continues posting flyers and checking with local morgues and churches while they wait for answers, as reported by First Alert 4.
Police issued an Endangered Person Advisory on July 23, 2025, 13 days after Johnson was last seen, according to FOX 2. The advisory cited his memory issues and lack of access to needed medication. Johnson was also without his glasses and wallet.
When Missouri Issues an Endangered Person Advisory
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, law enforcement agencies initiate these advisories when a person is missing under unexplained, involuntary or suspicious circumstances, is believed to be in danger, and information could help the public safely recover them.
Investigators Say the Case Remains Open
St. Louis County police told the outlet that detectives are still checking for new leads and will continue to investigate, though there are no new updates on Johnson's whereabouts at this time, as noted by First Alert 4. That leaves the case open more than a year after it began, with his family left to keep searching on their own while hoping for a break.
Anyone with information about Gary Johnson's whereabouts is asked to contact the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210, Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Missouri State Highway Patrol.
