A 40-year-old Stafford man has not been seen or heard from since he dropped his children off at their home near noon on October 6, and investigators say the circumstances only grow stranger the closer they look. Ghulam Karim told his family he was headed to work on Almeda Genoa Road in Houston that day, but his wife later found his wallet and car keys sitting at home — and he never showed up at his job at all.
Stafford police are seeking information about Karim. He was last seen around noon at the 10400 block of Fountain Lake Drive in Stafford, after dropping his children off at their residence, as reported by Click2Houston. He had told relatives he was driving to a job site in the 3000 block of Almeda Genoa Road and was expected home around midnight.
Instead, his wife discovered his wallet and car keys left behind at the house. Karim called in sick to work that day, according to Click2Houston's report, and has not returned to his job or contacted his employer since. Police describe him as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes; his clothing at the time he disappeared has not been released.
A Commute That Crosses County Lines
The drive Karim said he was taking that day would have carried him well outside Stafford's own jurisdiction. Getting from the Fountain Lake Drive neighborhood to the Almeda Genoa Road address means crossing from Fort Bend County into Harris County, a trip of roughly 15 to 20 miles along major Houston-area routes including US-90 Alternate and Interstate 610, Click2Houston reports. The intended route spans two counties.
Stafford police are asking anyone with information on Karim's whereabouts to contact Detective J. Trevino at 281-261-3974.
National Database Picks Up the Case
Beyond local police channels, the nonprofit Missing People in America opened case file MPIA 10213 for Karim, folding his information into what the organization describes as the nation's largest interactive missing persons map and database. The group says it verifies missing person reports directly with law enforcement before publishing them. Advocates also listed Karim's profile in the national Missing Military and Veteran Database, a filing that points to a possible military or veteran background worth confirming directly with family or investigators.
A Rising Tally of Missing Adults Locally
Karim's disappearance adds to a growing caseload across the region. Fort Bend County law enforcement agencies logged 648 adult missing person reports into the FBI's National Crime Information Center in 2024, more than double the 303 adult reports filed the year before, according to data from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Under Chapter 63 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, police are statutorily required to accept missing person reports and begin investigating immediately, without any mandatory waiting period, as Hoodline previously reported.
For now, Karim's whereabouts remain unknown. Anyone with information is urged to contact Stafford police detective J. Trevino at 281-261-3974.
