New Orleans is starting Monday cloudy, warm and muggy, with temperatures near 77 degrees before scattered showers and thunderstorms continue through the day. Rain chances are expected to ease later, but the city could stay mostly gray as the afternoon high reaches about 81 degrees before slipping toward the upper 70s.
The National Weather Service puts Monday’s rain chance at 40%, with northeast winds around 10 mph and generally light rainfall totals. A few downpours or thunderstorms remain possible, but forecasters say the threat of heavy rain should diminish as a front moves south.
Tuesday And Wednesday Look More Manageable
Tuesday should bring partly sunny skies and a high near 83 degrees, followed by a partly cloudy night around 73. Wednesday stays mostly dry with another high near 83, although northeast winds could increase to 15 mph during the day.
Thursday remains mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 7 a.m. Winds may gust as high as 25 mph, making it breezier around exposed areas and along the coast.
Rain And Stronger Winds Return For The Weekend
Rain chances remain uncertain Thursday into Friday. Forecast models also disagree about possible rain next weekend.
Rain chances remain uncertain into Sunday. A Small Craft Advisory is scheduled for portions of the coastal waters beginning Tuesday morning, so boaters should expect increasingly rough conditions through late week.
