Boston is waking to a chilly, breezy Tuesday, with temperatures around 45 degrees early and sunshine helping the city climb to near 59. Northeast winds, gusting as high as 29 mph, will make the day feel sharper than the thermometer suggests.
After dark, skies turn partly cloudy and temperatures dip to around 48 degrees. The bigger weather story is offshore, where a nor’easter is expected to stay far enough away to limit major impacts on land while rough conditions build over the water, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday Turns Cloudier And Windier
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and cooler, with a high near 53 and northeast winds around 18 mph. A few showers could reach areas east of Interstate 95 from late Wednesday into early Thursday, but most of southern New England should stay dry.
Cool Friday Gives Way To A Warmer Weekend
Thursday brings mostly sunny skies and a high near 61, followed by a sunny but cooler Friday with a high around 52 and only a slight chance of an early shower. The weekend then trends brighter and milder, with temperatures gradually rising.
Boaters Face The Roughest Conditions
Massachusetts has no land advisories in the forecast, but Small Craft Advisories and Gale Warnings remain in effect for portions of the coastal waters through Wednesday evening. Offshore waves could build to 7 to 13 feet, with gale-force winds and possible beach erosion making this a week for boaters to check conditions before heading out.
