New York City is waking up to clear skies and crisp air Saturday, with temperatures around 49 degrees and a brisk northwest breeze. Halloween will stay sunny and dry, with a high near 60 before temperatures ease back toward the upper 50s during the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, northwest winds will generally run 6 to 12 mph through the day, and rain is not expected. That makes the afternoon the most comfortable window for outdoor plans, though the breeze may keep it feeling cooler than the thermometer suggests.
Cooler After Sunset
Saturday night will turn partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to around 47 degrees and northwest winds near 6 mph. Anyone staying out for evening Halloween events should plan on a jacket, especially once the sun goes down.
New York Warms Up Before Rain Returns
The mild-up begins Sunday, which should be mostly sunny with a high near 62, followed by highs around 65 Monday and 67 Tuesday. Wednesday remains partly sunny and could reach 69 degrees, but the pattern turns unsettled late in the week, with rain showers possible Wednesday night and Thursday and showers or thunderstorms likely Thursday night into Friday.
Some inland areas outside the New York City and New Jersey metro could see frost overnight into Sunday morning. In the city, however, the forecast remains dry through the weekend, with no weather advisories currently listed.
